2013 Croatian Indoor Cricket Cup: Cup Stays In The Capital

The Zagreb Falcons have won the 2013 Croatian Indoor Cricket Cup which was played on Saturday in the capital Zagreb. A 3-run victory by the Zagreb Falcons over fellow Zagreb side the Hawks in the opening match proved to be decisive after both sides finished the tournament tied on points, resulting in the winner of their head to head match becoming the 2013 champions.

The outcome of the tournament would come down to the last match of the day between Sir William Hoste CC from Vis, who had earlier in the day beaten the eventually champions the Zagreb Falcons, and Sir Oliver CC from Split. The Zagreb Hawks needed the Vis side to do them a favour and beat Sir Oliver CC but it was not to be as the experienced Split side saved their best match till last.

The 2013 Croatian Indoor Cricket Cup will be remembered for the tremendous spirit in which all the matches were played in, a great crowd, some big blows with the bat, great bowling and some sublime fielding, which included some trademark Marko Mance (Zagreb Hawks) catching and an amazing catch taken by Pero Bosnjak (Zagreb Falcons) that would make any highlight reel in the world.
