UK Book Release: Croatian Contributes To 'The Authors XI: A Season of Cricket from Hackney to Hambleden'
07.06.2013.An interesting book about the cricketing exploits of the Author's XI's has hit the bookshelves in England this week. The Authors XI: A Season of Cricket from Hackney to Hambleden - is an insightful examination of modern cricket by a historic team made up of cricket-obsessed writers, including Sebastian Faulks, author of the 007 classic Quantum of Solace, Dan Stevens from Downton Abbey fame, and UK-based Croatian Peter Frankopan.
The Authors' XI was founded a century ago by cricket-loving writers including JM Barrie (Peter Pan), Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes) and PG Wodehouse (Jeeves & Wooster) and Frankopan was one of those asked to play for the team when it was re-founded last season.
The book has received rave reviews in the UK in such papers as The Times, and The Telegraph, with the latter saying it will 'fascinate and amuse anyone with a love for the game'.
Some people may remember an article late last year about Frankopan after he hit a massive six at the famous Lord's Cricket Ground in London (Nursery Ground) whilst playing in the Authors v Actors cricket match. The massive hit sailed out of the ground, hitting the side of a neighbouring house, breaking nearly the glass in the window. Frankopan maybe the first Croatian cricketer to have been turned into a cigarette card , the type they used to put inside packs of smokes in the 1930s-50s (photo attached).
